Whoever scrubs the grime off his mind with the soap of Rama's name — that person will see Rama reflected in the clear mirror of a purified heart. The image is domestic and homely: the name of God is a cleansing agent, and the mind is a soiled surface. Once the dirt is gone, the mind becomes a mirror bright enough to hold the divine reflection.

Give up falsehood, deceit, and speaking ill of others; love every living being. If a guest comes to your door, honor him with whatever your means allow. There is no telling in what form Narayana — the Lord who dwells within all beings — may arrive at your threshold; the guest at the door may be God himself. This is why the clean mirror of a pure mind is where Rama is finally seen.

Only the beloved great mantra of Rama's name will travel with you beyond this life; and the one who scours his mind clean with the soap of that name will behold Rama in the flawless mirror of his heart.
